How the Gift of Mobility Is Changing the World
At the Inspiration Travel Foundation, we partner with causes that deliver practical hope, where the love of Christ is expressed through action. Few ministries embody this better than Free Wheelchair Mission.
In 2024 alone, this powerful ministry delivered 62,648 wheelchairs across 29 countries, including Haiti, Ethiopia, Pakistan and the Dominican Republic. That’s 172 people every single day who received not just a seat, but a chance to live with dignity, freedom and renewed hope.
Imagine being unable to walk, work or attend school, simply because you lack mobility. For many people in the developing world, that’s their daily reality. With an estimated 80 million people globally in need of a wheelchair, the mission is clear and the opportunity is urgent.
Stories That Inspire
In Nicaragua, Marvin, a single father who lost both legs after a violent injury, was completely dependent on his teenage son. He was depressed and felt like a burden, but his world changed when he received his wheelchair from Free Wheelchair Mission. With mobility restored, Marvin regained his independence, and his son found hope for his dad’s future.
In Ecuador, 82-year-old Maria had to be carried by her daughter just to visit neighbors or go to the clinic. Today, thanks to a rugged, terrain-adapted wheelchair, Maria moves through her mountain village with pride and joy.
