Back-to-School Giving: What Matters Most

As a new school year begins, many families are checking off supply lists and preparing for earlier mornings. Those simple routines are a gift.

But for vulnerable children and young people in the Dominican Republic and Haiti, education can mean much more than returning to a classroom. It can provide practical support today and create a path toward a more secure future.

Your generosity could change far more than the start of a school year.

Dominican Republic: Help Children Start School Prepared

Fundacion Almuerzo Infantil is preparing to help approximately 1,000 children in vulnerable communities in Santo Domingo Este begin the 2026 school year with the supplies they need.

Children in Cachon de la Rubia, Cancino Adentro and Batey Mata los Indios will receive practical school supplies designed to help them enter the classroom prepared and encouraged.

Throughout the year, Fundacion Almuerzo Infantil also invests in children through God’s Word, meals and practical life lessons. This back-to-school season, you can tangibly come alongside that ongoing ministry.

Help put school supplies into children’s hands.

Haiti: Helping Nine Young Men Build a Future

For nine young men at the Haiti Christian Orphanage, back-to-school looks a little different this year. They are preparing to learn trades that can help them earn a living as they grow toward independence and life beyond the orphanage.

The nine young me, ranging in age from 15 to 21, have chosen training in:

  • Computer skills

  • Electricity

  • Plumbing

  • Tile work

  • Window Installation

Their programs will take approximately four to six months to complete. The goal is to raise $7,650 to cover training, necessary supplies, uniforms and transportation for all nine young men.

For these young men, trade school is a practical first step toward earning a living beyond the orphanage. The skills and credentials they gain can help open the door to employment and greater independence.

Your gift can help them take the next step.

A Different Kind of Back-to-School Giving

In the Dominican Republic, back-to-school giving means putting needed school supplies into the hands of a child who is ready to learn. In Haiti, it can mean helping a young man learn a trade and prepare to support himself as he moves toward adulthood.

Both create opportunity and tell a young person that someone believes in their future.

This back-to-school season, consider helping a child or young person take their next step.
